It AIN'T!! Midwifery encompasses so many different aspects of care. And I'll be straight out with you, not all midwives enjoy or are able to be on call for births. And THAT is OK!
Your style of midwifery doesn't have to mimic someone else's style of care. It's ok to admit that you don't want the on call life, that your household commitments do not accommodate an "on call" life. This does not mean that you can't make an impact to the families in your community.Â
